THE Aubrey concept
Wood is undoubtedly one of the most beautiful natural products.
Each plank is unique. One of the characteristics of this natural product is that it reacts to environmental conditions. It can expand or contract. However, the unique Aubrey floor is an exception to the rule. With its ingenious layering, Aubrey is practically unaffected by changes in the environment. Aubrey remains in the condition in which it was laid and shows hardly any warping. That’s how hassle-free your new wooden floor can be!
The choice of materials and the way they are layered make Aubrey one of a kind. The structure consists of a top layer, an intermediate layer and a cross-band. This makes it a 3-layer system, whereas layered systems normally have just 2 layers.
Extra security
The top layer can be supplied in various types of wood and is around 5.5 millimetres thick. A thicker top layer would make the product insufficiently stable, which would have a number of consequences. A top layer of less than around 4 millimetres, on the other hand, would substantially reduce the life of the product. The top layer is solid, i.e. made out of a whole piece of wood rather than constructed from several pieces. This ensures quality and a long life.
A unique intermediate layer
Most layered products are produced using existing standard systems such as 3-ply, multi-ply, birch plywood, OSB etc. In principle, these systems are not designed for use as floorboards. Following years of research, a high-quality support – which is stable and superbly supports the top layer – has been developed for Aubrey. The various layers (5 x 2.5 millimetres) consist of carefully chosen varieties of fine hardwood.
